This course provides a complete developmental
review of the four categories tested in the mathematics section
of the SAT: Fundamental concepts in algebra involving linear
equations and inequalities, Interpreting qualitative and quantitative
data & analyzing relationships, more advanced concepts
in algebra, including quadratic and higher-order equations,
and additional topics in math that includes geometry, trigonometry,
and complex numbers. Extensive use of actual SAT questions,
practice tests, and regular drills are incorporated into daily
lesson plans.
PSAT/SAT Evidence Based Reading
& Writing

This course is a comprehensive preparation for the SAT
Evidence Based Reading & Writing examination. Areas
covered in Evidence Based Reading include command of evidence,
purpose of paragraph, word in context, and applying visual
information from graphs to analytical concepts. Students
will be taught various strategies to breakdown the passage
and the questions. This strategy will be practiced on
World Literature, Great Global Conversation, History/
Social Studies, and Science passages. In Writing, students
will learn to recognize, correct, revise, and avoid common
errors in grammar and usage. Class activities will include
a sequence of hands on activities concentrating on sentence
basics, comma usage, other punctuation and capitalization,
subject-verb agreement, pronouns, verb tense, articles,
sentence clarity and style. Students will fully master
core ideas on usage, rhetoric, graph analysis, and the
essay. Extensive practice reinforces the skills and strategies
that are taught, and practice tests are included.
